AIIMS Kalyani to Host First Convocation; President Murmu to Award Top Graduates

AIIMS Kalyani will hold its inaugural convocation ceremony on Wednesday, marking a significant milestone as the first MBBS batch, admitted in 2019, officially graduates. Alongside them, scholars from the Post-Doctoral Certificate Course (PDCC) — including four from the 2023 batch and five from 2024 — will also receive their degrees.

Out of the 48 MBBS graduates, three meritorious students will be honoured with medals and certificates, which will be presented personally by the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, executive director Ramji Singh announced on Tuesday. Kalarab Mukherjee will be recognised as the best outgoing student and will receive a special medal.

In total, 57 students — 48 MBBS and 9 PDCC scholars — will be conferred degrees at the event.

Several dignitaries are expected to attend, including Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Prataprao Jadhav, Minister of State for Health Chandrima Bhattacharya, Union Minister of State for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Shantanu Thakur, and Governor C.V. Ananda Bose.

Ahead of the President’s arrival, security arrangements have been intensified, and road maintenance is underway along the travel route. As per official sources, President Murmu is scheduled to land at the Kampa Military Camp near Kanchrapara in North 24 Parganas via helicopter. From there, her convoy will proceed by road through the Kanchrapara–Haringhata Road and NH-12, reaching AIIMS Kalyani via the Bara Jaguli crossing.
