TDB Partners with Primary Healthtech for AI-Powered Blood Testing Device

Edited By VOH

The Technology Development Board (TDB), Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, has signed an agreement with Primary Healthtech Pvt. Ltd., New Delhi, for the project “IoT-enabled Point-of-care Blood Testing Device for Affordable and Accessible Healthcare powered by AI/ML algorithms.”

Founded by Mr. Sahil Jagnani and Mr. Ankit Choudhury, IIT Guwahati alumni, the company evolved from a multidisciplinary team of doctors, researchers, and entrepreneurs focused on developing low-cost diagnostic solutions for underserved communities. Their flagship innovation, the Mobilab device, is a portable, battery-operated, AI/ML-powered, IoT-enabled clinical chemistry analyser capable of testing more than 25 parameters related to kidney, liver, heart, vitamins, and cancer.

Mobilab’s development was initially supported by BIRAC, and the device has already been tested on over 10,000 patients. It holds a patent transferred from IIT Guwahati and multiple pending patents covering integrated mixers, assay development, centrifuges, and optical systems. Recently, the company secured a CDSCO manufacturing license.

The project now aims to upgrade the current prototype (M1) to enable five simultaneous tests, minimizing patient waiting time and enabling commercial-scale manufacturing. The enhanced Mobilab will cover tests such as haemoglobin, creatinine, bilirubin, cholesterol, triglycerides, uric acid, glucose, and GGT.

On the occasion, Sh. Rajesh Kumar Pathak, Secretary, TDB, said:

“Ensuring quality healthcare access in rural and remote regions is a national priority. This project not only addresses affordability and accessibility but also showcases India’s capability in developing indigenous, AI-driven diagnostic solutions.”

The promoters of Primary Healthtech added:

“TDB’s support will accelerate our journey from lab innovation to large-scale deployment. With Mobilab, we aim to bridge the healthcare gap for rural and underserved communities, delivering advanced diagnostics at the point of care.”

This collaboration highlights TDB’s role in driving indigenous healthcare innovation, supporting Atmanirbhar Bharat while boosting India’s global presence in affordable medical technologies.
