Smartan Rolls Out AI-Driven System For Sports Injury Prevention

By Team VOH

Smartan has launched its AI-driven sports injury prevention platform at CES 2026 in Las Vegas, marking a major step toward making advanced biomechanical analysis accessible worldwide.

The Chennai-based startup highlights its technology which can reduce sports injuries by 42 percent using only ordinary cameras and smartphones, eliminating the need for expensive laboratory equipment.

The platform uses real-time biomechanical analysis to track body movement, identify risky patterns and provide instant feedback to athletes and medical professionals. It is designed to help prevent injuries before they occur, while also supporting rehabilitation and monitoring recovery progress.

Smartan was co-founded by Sanjay Thiyagarajan and Arunesh Raja and is backed by former Indian cricket team head coach Ravi Shastri. The company is positioning itself at the intersection of sports science and artificial intelligence, targeting sports academies, physiotherapy centres and healthcare facilities across global markets.

The company is addressing a large and growing problem, with an estimated 8.6 million sports injuries occurring every year worldwide, resulting in economic losses of about $33 billion. Smartan says its platform has already shown strong results in deployments across India and is now preparing for expansion into the United States.

By using widely available hardware such as smartphones and standard cameras, Smartan aims to democratize access to high-quality injury prevention and performance monitoring, making advanced sports science tools available beyond elite training centres and professional leagues.
