Redcliffe Labs Introduces AI-Driven Face Scan For Contactless Preventive Health Screening In India

By Team VOH

Redcliffe Labs, one of India’s fastest-growing diagnostic chains, has introduced an AI-driven, contactless face scan tool that enables rapid, non-invasive preventive health screening.

The technology analyses facial features, skin tone variations, eye sclera, facial puffiness, and other visible biomarkers to provide instant risk assessments for conditions including anaemia, jaundice, thyroid dysfunction, diabetes risk, cardiovascular risk, and vitamin deficiencies. Results are delivered in under 60 seconds without blood draws or physical contact.

Launched on January 22, 2026, the AI face scan captures a short video using either a smartphone camera or an in-clinic kiosk, and processes it through proprietary deep learning models trained on millions of Indian patient images. The system generates a personalised health risk report with recommendations for follow-up tests or consultations. Positioned as a first-line screening tool for asymptomatic individuals, the technology has demonstrated high accuracy in initial trials, validated against gold-standard laboratory tests. Redcliffe plans to expand the service to over 200 cities by mid-2026.

The face scan analyses subtle changes in skin tone to assess anaemia and jaundice, scleral colour for liver function and bilirubin levels, facial puffiness for thyroid and kidney issues, and eye features for sleep quality and fatigue. It also evaluates micro-expressions and vascular patterns to estimate cardiovascular and metabolic risk.

The AI models are trained on a large dataset of Indian patients with paired lab-confirmed diagnoses, enabling comprehensive preventive health scoring and flagging of potential risks such as iron deficiency, vitamin B12/D deficiency, prediabetes, hypertension risk, and early liver stress.

Validation studies against thousands of concurrent laboratory tests show sensitivity and specificity in the 85–92% range for key markers such as anaemia and jaundice, sufficient for effective first-line screening. The tool does not provide definitive diagnoses but produces actionable recommendations for timely lab confirmation or consultations.

The face scan is operational at select Redcliffe centres in Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Ahmedabad, with a phased rollout planned to cover 200+ cities by mid-2026. It is offered free as an entry-level screening during routine visits or as part of paid health packages, and is integrated into Redcliffe’s app for self-initiated at-home scans. Redcliffe is also exploring collaborations with corporates, insurance providers, and government wellness programmes to scale deployment.

This launch aligns with India’s growing emphasis on preventive health under the National Health Policy and the Ayushman Bharat framework. While the tool is not a replacement for laboratory testing or clinical examination, it positions Redcliffe Labs as a pioneer in accessible, AI-augmented preventive screening, potentially transforming how millions of Indians monitor and manage their health well before symptoms emerge.
