AI-Based Blood Testing Device Launched at Niloufer Hospital for Experimental Trial

-By VOH Team

As part of the Amrit Swasth Bharat initiative, Niloufer Hospital has become the first government hospital in India to introduce an AI-powered diagnostic tool using photoplethysmography (PPG) technology. The newly launched device can perform blood tests without the use of needles, offering a non-invasive diagnostic method under an experimental program called Quick Vitals.

Unlike traditional methods that require waiting for lab results, this PPG device scans the face and delivers diagnostic information in under a minute. The device was officially launched on Monday by Dr. Santosh Kumar Kraleti, President of the Foundation for Futuristic Cities, in the presence of BJP national leader Karuna Gopal, Quick Vitals founder Harish Bisam, and senior medical officials from Niloufer Hospital, including Dr. Lalu Prasad Rathod, Dr. Vijayakumar, and Dr. Madhavi. Dr. Kraleti is also a member of the National Medical Commission and the Sushena Health Foundation.

To operate the system, a smartphone is connected to the PPG device mounted on an LED tripod. In just 30 to 40 seconds, the device can measure blood pressure (BP), oxygen saturation (SpO₂), heartbeat, respiratory function, heart rate variability (HRV), stress levels, hemoglobin, pulse-respiratory rate, and autonomic nervous system activity, including both sympathetic and parasympathetic responses.

According to Dr. Ravi Kumar, Superintendent of Niloufer Hospital, 1,000 children will be tested during the first two months of the trial. The results will be thoroughly reviewed. If the trial proves successful, the hospital plans to recommend broader implementation of the system across other government hospitals in the state.
