IQVIA, DCRI Partner To Enhance Clinical Research In Obesity & Related Conditions

By Team VOH

IQVIA and the Duke Clinical Research Institute (DCRI) have launched a strategic collaboration aimed at strengthening and accelerating clinical research in obesity and cardiometabolic conditions.

The partnership combines IQVIA’s global clinical research capabilities, data analytics and operational infrastructure with DCRI’s academic clinical trial expertise to support the planning and execution of complex studies in these therapeutic areas.

Under the collaboration, the two organizations will work together to streamline trial frameworks from governance through data management and site execution, enhancing efficiency and momentum in clinical programs for sponsors, regulators and the broader medical community. The initiative leverages access to diverse patient populations across more than 3,000 trial sites in 56 countries, as well as extensive experience in cardiometabolic research, including GLP-1 receptor agonists and SGLT2 inhibitors.

IQVIA brings a track record of supporting over 120 obesity-related trials with more than 90,000 enrolled patients, while DCRI contributes its infrastructure for site activation, patient screening, enrollment and study management. The collaboration also makes use of advanced analytics, real-world data and technology platforms to inform trial design and execution.

The partnership represents a growing trend in combining industry and academic research capabilities to enhance the quality and pace of clinical studies in areas of high unmet medical need.
