Fertility-tech startup Luma Fertility has raised $4 million in seed funding, led by Peak XV’s Surge, with additional participation from industry leaders Ameera Shah (Metropolis Healthcare) and Vijay Taparia (B2V Ventures).
The funding will support Luma’s plans to deepen its presence in Mumbai and expand into new cities over the next two years.
Founded by Neha K. Motwani, Luma Fertility offers comprehensive fertility care — including IVF, fertility assessments, egg and embryo freezing, and pre-conception support. Motwani is also the founder of Fitternity, a fitness platform acquired by Cult.fit in 2021.
Luma has unveiled a 6,000 sq ft flagship clinic in Bandra, Mumbai, blending medical excellence with a tech-first experience. The clinic provides holistic services such as nutrition counseling, IV therapy, acupuncture, and at-home semen testing.
At the core of its offering is an IVF companion app featuring journey tracking tools, real-time medical reports, and LumaAI, a 24/7 AI-powered assistant offering personalized cycle and medication guidance. The clinic emphasizes transparency, with an open lab concept and a dedicated care team for each patient.
With India’s fertility rate dropping below replacement levels (from 2.1 to 1.9) and IVF cycles projected to rise from 320,000 in 2024 to 550,000 by 2028, Luma is well-positioned to meet growing demand.
The startup is also focused on expanding egg and embryo preservation services, targeting urban millennials and Gen Z who are increasingly opting to delay parenthood.
