In a major step towards transforming Punjab into a vibrant, healthy, and future-ready state under the leadership of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, Cabinet Minister Sh. Sanjeev Arora announced that Fortis Healthcare will invest over ₹900 crore to expand its Mohali campus.

The expansion will add more than 400 beds, creating a world-class centre of excellence in healthcare.

While addressing the media, Sh. Sanjeev Arora said the integrated healthcare campus of Fortis Hospital Mohali will span 13.4 acres, generating over 2,500 direct jobs and 2,200 indirect jobs, further enhancing Punjab’s role as a hub for advanced healthcare and medical tourism.

He added, “The Government of Punjab is focusing on strengthening public-private healthcare for Sehatmand, Rangla Punjab. In this regard, we welcome Fortis Healthcare’s continued investments and expansion plan in the State, underscoring Punjab’s emergence as a centre of medical excellence.”

With this development, the Punjab cluster will exceed 1,000 beds, supported by a cumulative investment of ₹2,500 crore, with more expansion planned. This reinforces Punjab’s position as one of North India’s leading healthcare hubs.

Fortis has already invested over ₹1,500 crore in Punjab, building a robust network of hospitals. The Mohali facility currently has 375 beds, including 194 ICU beds across 40 specialties, and is a regional leader in cardiac sciences, oncology, organ transplants, robotic surgery, and critical care.

  1. Fortis Hospital Ludhiana: 259-bed facility (since 2013) and a new 70-bed super-speciality unit launched in 2023 focusing on breast health, diabetes, and spine care.

  2. Fortis Escorts Hospital Amritsar: 173-bed facility on a 4.5-acre campus, serving Punjab, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu & Kashmir.

Highlighting the government’s commitment, Sh. Sanjeev Arora stated, “The Government of Punjab is building a strong foundation for Rangla Punjab and Sehatmand Punjab. We are ensuring universal health coverage and strengthening public infrastructure. Fortis Healthcare’s expansion plan highlights the growing trust of private players in the State’s healthcare ecosystem. Together, these initiatives will deliver world-class healthcare, create thousands of jobs, and place Punjab firmly on the map of advanced healthcare and medical tourism.”
