Dineout Founders Raise $4.5 Million for New Medical Travel Startup Bridging UK–India Healthcare Access

Dineout co-founders Ankit Mehrotra and Sahil Jain have raised $4.5 million in seed funding for their new venture, The Medical Travel Company, a UK- and India-based medical travel startup aiming to make world-class treatment in India accessible to international patients at lower costs.

The funding round was led by Nexus Venture Partners, a global VC fund, with participation from Kriscore Capital, an early-stage venture firm, and star cricketers Ben Stokes, Jofra Archer, and KL Rahul—co-founders of 4CAST, an athlete-led collective and investment group.

Together, the investors bring a combination of entrepreneurial expertise, healthcare insights, and international influence to support The Medical Travel Company’s mission of creating reliable, seamless pathways for UK patients to access advanced medical treatment in India.

The startup plans to use the funds to expand operations in the UK, scale its India-based network of partner hospitals, and enhance its digital patient management systems.

The launch comes at a time when the UK faces a significant healthcare backlog. As of June 2025, around 7.7 million people were waiting for elective procedures, particularly in orthopaedics, dental, IVF, gynaecology, ophthalmology, and urology. With private healthcare costs remaining high, medical tourism has seen a sharp rise, with over 500,000 UK residents travelling abroad each year for faster and more affordable care.

Initially focusing on the UK market, The Medical Travel Company aims to expand its model over the next three to four years to other regions facing similar healthcare access challenges, including the US, Canada, Australia, and Europe.
